Twelve African pygmy goats lived for years in a household under inadequate conditions—on concrete, without enough food, space, or basic care. Fed scraps and unable to move freely, they grew weaker, and the first kids began showing signs of severe exhaustion.

Concerned neighbors contacted our shelter. We found the goats neglected and exhausted, with matted fur and clear signs of neglect. After negotiations, the owner agreed to hand them over to our team.

At our shelter, they finally received a safe environment, proper nutrition, and constant veterinary supervision. Over the following weeks, the goats recovered with the care of our staff and volunteers. They regained strength, health, and their natural playfulness. In the spring, new healthy kids were born—a clear sign that our care had borne fruit.

The oldest among them, Sonja, often stands calmly on a raised spot, observing her surroundings—a symbol of the quiet yet powerful transformation she has undergone.
Najstarija među njima, Sonja, često mirno stoji na uzvišenju i posmatra okolinu – simbol tihe, ali snažne promjene kroz koju je prošla.

Her story, like that of the entire herd, reminds us of something important: caring for animals is a lifelong responsibility. Every living being deserves dignity, safety, and freedom. And these goats finally have that.
