Žako – African Grey Parrot
Žako lived in an apartment in Herceg Novi with his elderly owner, just the two of them, for 20 years. Žako wasn’t just a pet; he was a companion, family, and friend. After his owner passed away, the family decided to give Žako to us. When we received him, he was already old; now he is 25. Even today, he repeats words and imitates the voice of his late owner. At the shelter, he enjoys safety and peace, as well as his favorite volunteer who visits every week to spend time with him.

Tomna – Brazilian Macaw (ARA Parrot)
Tomna came to us seven years ago when a family from Budva decided to leave Montenegro. Parrots like her can live up to 50 years – and Tomna began her new life in the warmth of our shelter.

Aleksandar – Alexandrine Parrot (Great Alexander Parrot)
Aleksandar is known for his beauty and intelligence. He once lived in a small apartment with people who had hearing problems. His naturally loud and energetic voice was unbearable for them. His cries—which were actually calls for attention, play, and communication—led them to abandon him. Parrots like him are not quiet animals—they talk, call, and shout. Aleksandar wasn’t to blame for being who he is; he simply didn’t have a home ready to listen to him. Today, at the shelter, Aleksandar loves visitor attention and enjoys talking with them.
